Protecting and Reforming the US Civil Service
Volcker Alliance board member Francis Fukuyama convened a group of non-partisan experts and scholars for a workshop at the National Academy of Public Administration conference titled “Protecting and Reforming the US Civil Service.” Volcker Alliance board member and former US deputy chief technology officer, Jennifer Pahlka, and Peter Morrissey, senior director of talent and strategy for the Volcker Alliance, joined the group in preparing a joint statement for a vision of civil service reform emphasizing agility, accountability, collaboration, outcomes, and capacity building.
The Volcker Alliance has long supported reforms to modernize the civil service system and improve how the federal government attracts, hires, retains, and manages a workforce equipped to meet the challenges facing the nation while maintaining independence and non-partisanship at the core of public service careers.
