Glasgall Presents to Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama

William Glasgall, the Volcker Alliance's director of state and local programs, addressed the annual meeting of the nonpartisan Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama in Birmingham on February 5, following the release of Governor Robert Bentley's general fund and education budgets for 2016-2017. In his remarks to state officials, legislators, and business leaders, Glasgall reviewed findings of the Alliance's recent Truth and Integrity in State Budgeting report and Beyond the Basics: Best Practices in State Budget Transparency working paper. He also discussed the relevance  of the findings to Alabama, including ways to improve the transparency and understandability of its budgets based on best practices among other states.
