Webinar: America's Trillion-Dollar Repair Bill - Capital Budgeting and the Disclosure of State Infrastructure Needs
12:00AM
State and local governments provide about 80 percent of US public infrastructure spending. But reported infrastructure spending may not sufficiently address America’s critical need to repair public assets such as roads, highways, waterworks, and buildings.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at 11 a.m. EST, William Glasgall, Senior Vice President and Director of State and Local Initiatives at the Volcker Alliance, led a presentation on the best state capital budgeting practices, with a special focus on the disclosure of infrastructure needs. Presenters shared insights on a plan included in the Volcker Alliance's new working paper, "America’s Trillion-Dollar Repair Bill: Capital Budgeting and the Disclosure of State Infrastructure Needs." The paper is designed to help policymakers set common standards; improve asset management; make information consistent, updated, and available; and build a better-informed decision-making process for capital projects.
Presenters included:
- Jerry Zhirong Zhao, Gross Family Professor of Public & Nonprofit Management and Founding Director of the Institute for Urban & Regional Infrastructure Finance (IURIF), Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota
- Camila Fonseca-Sarmiento, Research Associate, Institute for Urban & Regional Infrastructure Finance, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota
