Celebrating Public Servants on the Front Lines and Behind the Scenes
1:00AM
The Volcker Alliance hosted a panel to recognize and thank our public servants who have worked tirelessly during the pandemic.
On May 4 from 2-3 p.m. EDT, during Public Service Recognition Week, Volcker Alliance Board Chair and former New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley led a discussion with public servants who—in different parts of the country, in varying roles, but with the same unwavering commitment to the common good—are responding to myriad challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Panelists reflected on ways their teams nimbly pivoted in response to the pandemic, such as:
- Ensuring school-aged children in New York City shelters had access to the technology required to attend school remotely;
- Rolling out COVID testing and vaccination sites in vulnerable communities across Arizona; and
- Leveraging virtual strategies to encourage underrepresented candidates to apply for open police and fire positions in Los Angeles.
